My YouTube watch history and searches are switched off.

Less because of privacy, more because five of us in my intergenerational family all use the same account, with hilarious disturbing consequences to the algorithm. 🤦

What can I say? We’re a curious bunch with a multitude of interests (and music tastes and comedy choices).

Nonetheless, my “Recommended Videos” list to the side doesn’t vary much without the personalised history.

So the list tends to look like a combination of hard-hitting interview thumbnails and MrBeast-esque thumbnails.

It’s beginning to haunt me…

And, yes, the MrBeast-esques do tend to be young white men, while the interview thumbnails do tend to be middle-aged white men.
